지난 주에 확인 한 최종 통계들을 통해 우리는 2011년에 세운 흑자 목표를 2014/15에 달성 했다고 확정 지었습니다. 

이것은 우리 모두가 큰 자부심을 가질 수 있는 중요한 이정표입니다.

뉴질랜드가 2011년에 직면했던 $18.4 billion 적자에서, 2015년 6월 30일까지 일년 동안 이룬 $414 million 흑자는 큰 반전입니다.  

우리는 글로벌 금융 위기 이후로 흑자를 낸 최초의 선진국들 중 하나 입니다. 

더 나아가, 우리의 경제는 안정되고 책임감 있는 경영 밑에 지속적으로 성장하고 있습니다. 우리는 또한 2015년 6월에 18분기 연속적으로 2.4% 연간 성장률을 기록 했습니다. 

우리는 또한 11분기 연속적으로 일자리 증가를 기록 했으며, 지난 해에 69,000개의 일자리를 창출 해냈습니다. 연평균 임금은 최초로 $57,000을 기록 했으며- 이것은 국민당이 정권에 들어선 이후 $10,000이 상승한 수치 입니다. 

우리는 5년 동안 긍정적인 가계 처축 예금을 기록 했습니다- 이것은 한세대 만에 이루어진 결과 입니다. 매우 낮은 금리는 가계와 기업들을 지원하고 있습니다. 

우리 나라는 높은 노동 시장 참여율을 보이고 있으며, 최고 기록을 향해 상승하고 있는 높은 취직율을 가지고 있습니다.

우리는 최근 뉴질랜드의 가장 큰 무역 협정인, 환태평양경제동반자협정을 성공적으로 마무리 지었습니다- 이것은 2030년도 까지 우리 경제에 $2.7 billion의 혜택을 가져다 줄 것으로 예상 됩니다.

또한 정부는 올해 한국과의 자유무역협정을 타결 시켰습니다. 이로써 우리의 5대 교역 파트너들인 호주, 중국, 미국, 일본, 그리고 한국과의 자유 무역 관계를 가지게 되었습니다.

성장을 위한 뚜렷한 경제 계획과, 흑자로 돌아가는 것은 더 많은 일자리와, 높은 소득으로 이어질 것이며, 그로 인해 뉴질랜드 국민들과 그 가정들이 전진할 수 있는 기회를 가져다 줄 것 입니다.

우리 정부는 지난 7년 간 제한 된 예산안 안에서도, 더 나은 공공 서비스를 제공하기 위해 더 많은 투자를 하며 열심히 달려 왔습니다. 우리는 혈세를 통해 더 나은 결과를 얻는 것에 집중 하였으며, 특별히 취약 계층을 위해 노력 하였습니다.

국민당은 책임감 있고 합리적인 방법으로 정부의 재정을 관리할 것이며, 지속적인 부채 상환과, 더 경쟁력 있고 생산적인 경제를 세워갈 것입니다. 

지난 주말에 저는 뉴질랜드로 첫 공식 해외 방문을 한 호주의 새로운 총리 Malcolm Turnbull을 환영 하였습니다. 그의 방문 기간 동안, 우리는 오클랜드 전쟁 기념관에서 참전용사들을 기리며 헌화를 하였으며, 공식적인 양자 회담을 통해 폭 넓은 주제로 대화를 나누었습니다.

Last week the final numbers came in and it was confirmed we achieved surplus for the 2014/15 year, a target we first set back in 2011.

This is a significant milestone and one we can all take great pride in.

This $414 million surplus in the year to 30 June 2015 is a huge turnaround from the $18.4 billion deficit New Zealand faced in in 2011. 

We are one of the first developed nations to return to surplus following the Global Financial Crisis.

What’s more our economy is continuing to grow under our stable, responsible management. We recently recorded our 18th consecutive quarter of expansion to deliver annual growth of 2.4 per cent in June 2015.

We’ve also had 11 straight quarters of job growth, with 69,000 more jobs in the past year. The average annual wage is now over $57,000 for the first time - that’s $10,000 more than when National first came into office.

We’ve recorded five years of positive household savings - the first time this has happened in a generation. Very low interest rates are helping households and businesses.

Our country has high labour market participation and a near-record high employment rate.  

We’ve just successfully completed the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement - New Zealand’s biggest ever trade deal - which is expected to benefit our economy by $2.7 billion by 2030.

This year we’ve also signed a free trade deal with Korea. This means we now have free trade agreements with our top five trading partners: Australia, China, United States, Japan and Korea.

By setting a path back to surplus and running a clear economic plan to support growth, more jobs and higher incomes, we are providing opportunities for New Zealanders and their families to get ahead.

We’ve worked hard over the past seven years in government to get on top of spending and to deliver better public services within tight financial constraints. We’ve focused on getting better results from taxpayers’ money, particularly for our most vulnerable people.   

National will remain focused on managing the Government’s finances in a sensible and responsible manner, continuing to pay down debt, and on building a more productive and competitive economy.

Over the weekend I officially welcomed new Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to New Zealand on his first official visit overseas.

During his visit, we laid a wreath at the Auckland War Memorial and had official bilateral talks on a wide range of topics. Later this week I will travel to Marrakech, Brussels and London for a series of high level meetings.
