실종 된 말레이시아 여객기 수색에 별 진전이 없이 12일째가 된 가운데 호주에서는 퍼스 지역 서 남단 3000km 밖의 남 인도양 일대를 중심으로 공조 정밀수색이 진행 되고 있다.
The search for a missing Malaysian airliner has entered its 12th day as Australia continues to co-ordinate the search in the southern Indian Ocean, more than 3000 kilometres southwest of Perth.

239명의 승객과 승무원을 태운 말레이시아 항공 MH370편과 교신이 끊긴지 11일이 지난 오늘까지도, 실종 항공기에 무슨 일이 발생했다거나, 또 어디에 착륙했나 하는 일말의 단서조차도 찾아내지 못하고 있다.
Eleven days after contact was lost with Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 and its 239 passengers and crew, there has been minimal progress in determining precisely what happened or where the plane ended up.

익명을 요구하는 말레이시아 항공관제국 관계자는 “우리는 비행기가 실종 된지 12일째인 현재도 무슨 일이 벌어졌는지 아무런 단서도 가지고 있지 않다.”고 말했다.
"We are still clueless at to what happened to the missing plane 12 days on," a Malaysian aviation official told DPA on Wednesday on condition of anonymity.

현지 신문 보도에 따르면 실종기 기장 자하리 아마드 사하의 집에서 압수한 물품 중에서 디에고 가르샤, 몰디브, 스리랑카, 그리고 인도 공항의 활주로 시뮬레이터 도면을 조사관들이 발견했다고 한다.  그러나, 경찰 소식통은 그러한 보도에 대해 아는 바 없다고 말했다.  “내가 알기로는 전문가들이 MH370편의 비행 시뮬레이터를 아직 분석 중 이다.”라고 소식통은 말했다.
A local newspaper reported that investigators found landing strips in Diego Garcia, Maldives, Sri Lanka and India in the flight simulator seized from the house of the plane's pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, but a police source said he was not aware of such report. "As far as I know experts are still examining the flight simulator," he said.

나지브 라작 총리가 지난주 토요일, 실종기가 레이다에서 사라진 후에도 알려지지 않은 목적지를 향해 무려 7시간 동안이나 비행했다고 말한 후, 239명의 승객을 태운 MH370기 수색작업은 이제 호주 면적보다 넓은 768만 제곱킬로미터 범위로 확대되었다.
The search for the missing flight MH370, carrying 239 people on board, has been expanded to 7.68 million square kilometres, slightly larger than Australia, after Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Saturday the plane flew for up to seven hours toward an unknown destination after it vanished from radar.

태국 군당국은 그 실종기와의 교신이 끊긴 바로 수분 후에 군 레이다망에 잡힌 한 비행기가 아마도 MH370편이었을 거라고 말하고 있다. 또한 태국 군당국은 말레이시아 여객기에 대한 특별한 정보제공 요청이 없었기 때문에 이러한 정보를 공유하지 않았다고 말하고 있다.
Thailand's military says its radar detected a plane that may have been MH370 just minutes after the jetliner's communications went down. It also says it didn't share the information with Malaysia earlier because it wasn't specifically asked for it.

한편 말레이시아는 해군과 공군기를 호주 서해안의 남단 통로 지역에 배치했다. 이 지역은 호주가 샅샅이 수색을 펼치고 있는 광대한 지역이다.
Malaysia has deployed its navy and air force to the southern corridor, where Australia is taking the lead in scouring a huge section of ocean off its west coast.

말레이시아 교통부 장관 히사무딘 후세인은 호주, 일본, 뉴질랜드 그리고 한국에서 추가 장비와 기술팀을 광범위한 해당 남인도 해역 수색에 투입하여 지원해 주고 있다고 말했다.
Malaysia's Transport Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein said Australia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea were sending additional hardware to search in the massive southern Indian ocean.
