Small parties need friends, and so maybe we shouldn't be surprised at Mana's flirtation with the Internet party. MP Hone Harawira has tried to broaden his appeal since he split with the Maori Party. 

군소정당들은 친구들을 필요로 한다. 그러므로 마나당이 인터넷당과 밀월을 즐기는 것은 그리 놀랄 일이 아니다. 호네 하라위라 의원은 그가 마오리당으로 부터 분당한 이래 다각도로 세 확장에 부심해 왔다.

In other words, the Mana experiment is not working and something else is required. But Kim Dotcom can't be the answer to Mana's problem. Politics makes strange bedfellows, but this couple would be grotesque.

바꾸어 말하면, 마나당의 정치 실험은 잘 되지 않았고 뭔가가 필요 했다. 그렇다고 김닷컴이 마나당 문제의 해답이 될 수는 없다. 정치는 오월동주(吳越同舟)를 하게 하지만 이 커플은 좀 기괴하다.

The two sides do, of course, share a loathing for John Key and his spy machine. This is not quite enough to build a party on, though. After all, there are plenty of people throughout the world who are appalled at the manifest abuses of the American-led spy network. Even Jimmy Carter thinks his email is bugged. 

물론 양측 다 같이 존 키의 정탐조직에 대해 혐오하고 있다. 하지만 이것으로 한 정당을 형성하는데 충분하지는 않다. 어쨌든 전 세계에 걸쳐 미국이 이끄는 스파이 조직망의 명백한 남용에 소름이 끼치는 사람들이 많이 있다. 지미 카터 전 대통령조차도 그의 이 메일이 감시 당했다고 생각한다.

There are many Mana activists who think Uncle Sam is the devil - and Uncle Sam is hounding Kim Dotcom to the uttermost ends of the earth. But it's not always true that in politics the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The enemy of my enemy could also be my enemy. Politics is tricky like that. 

미국이 악마라고 생각하는 마나당 행동주의자들이 많이 있다. - 그러면서 그들은 미국 정부가 킴 닷컴을 지구의 가장 끝단까지라도 추적하고 있다고 생각한다. 그러나, 정치에 있어서 나의 적의 적은 나의 친구라는 등식에 비추어서는 꼭 그렇지만은 않다.  나의 적의 적이 또한 내 적이 될 수도 있다.  정치란 그처럼 교묘해 알다가도 모를 일이다.

Of course it's early days and one of the Mana men is careful to say that he's not enthusiastic about all this. 

물론 합당 논의 초기이고 어떤 한 마나당원은 연관한 모든 것에 대해 그리 열렬하지는 않다고 조심스레 말을 한다. 
 


But think about the atmospherics. Kim Dotcom's pose as the "little bloke" and the friendly martyr is starting to wear thin.

그러나 주변 분위기를 볼 때, 킴 닷컴의 자세는 어린 애숭이나 우정의 순교자처럼 시작한다고 받아 들이기 어렵다.

And Brian Edwards, who knows everything about PR, reckons Dotcom's star is fading. 

그리고 대중홍보에 정통한 브라이언 에드워드씨는 닷컴의 명성이 서서히 퇴색돼 가고 있다고 평가한다.

As for the rangatiratanga part of Mana, does it really think a German squillionaire is its natural ally? Kim Dotcom is a master of PR and maybe he is even now hinting that he's always been bothered about the British attitude towards treaties. 

마나당의 절대주권 의식에 비추어 볼 때 사연 많은 독일 태생과의 정말 자연스런 정치연합이 가능한지 생각해 볼 필요가 있다. 대중홍보에 능한 닷 컴은 진행되고 있는 영국식 협상 교섭에 아마 매번 지겨워했으리라는 추측이 있다.

Much better to pull out now, before the voters start to get the wrong idea. Russel Norman got the Greens into trouble when he revealed he had been to see Mr Moneybags. The Greens and Dotcom are not natural allies. 

유권자들이 오판하기 전에 지금 그런 망상에서 빠져 나오는 것이 좋다고 녹색당의 러셀 노먼이 말하는 것은 그가 미스터 돈주머니를 상대 했을 때 문제가 있다는 것을 알았기 때문이다. 녹색당과 닷 컴이 제휴하기에는 태생적으로 맞지가 않는다.

The same is true for Mana. Some might start to wonder whether Mana just wants to feel the size of Dotcom's wallet, since left-wingers and Maori nationalists lack access to trust funds. But taking a rich man's money to campaign for the poor is really not a good look. 

같은 논리가 마나당에도 성립된다.  마나당이 좌성향인데다 마오리 국수주의자들이 트러스트 기금 보조를 거의 받지 못하자, 닷컴의 자금력만 원하는지 한번 생각해 볼 필요가 있다.  그러나 재력 있는 사람의 돈을 받아가며 가난한 사람들에게 표를 호소하는 선거운동은 실로 좋게 보여지지는 않는다.
