좋은 교육은 미래를 위한 기반이 됩니다- 이것은 젊은 사람들에게 거의 무엇이든 할 수 있는 기회와, 어디든 갈 수 있는 기회를 제공합니다. 좋은 교육이 없이는 선택할 수 있는 폭이 더 한정되어 있습니다. 그렇기 때문에 이 정부에게 교육은 우선순위입니다.
지난주에 발표된 최종 NCEA 결과들은 교육을 위한 우리의 지속적인 투자가 효율적이게 이루어지며, 학생들이 그들에게 제공되는 기회들을 잘 활용하고 있다는 것을 보여줍니다. 이번 결과들은 우리가 정부에 입성한 이후 가장 훌륭한 결과입니다.
결과들은: Year 11 학생들의 NCEA 레벨 1 성취율은 대략 62%의 결과를 보여줬던 2008년 도보다 수치가 올라 75.5%이며; Year 12 학생들의 NCEA 레벨 2 성취율은 9년 전의 65.5%에서 올라 78.4%이며; Year 13 학생들의 NCEA 레벨 3 성취율은 2008년 도의 53.4%에서 올라 64.5%를 기록했습니다.
이러한 결과들이 보여주는 것은, 수천명의 더 많은 아이들이 성인 교육 및 트레이닝을 받고, 삶에서 성공하기 위해 필요한 기술과 지식을 가지고 학교를 졸업한다는 것입니다. 이러한 결과들은 교사들과, 부모들, 학교 이사회, 그리고 학생들의 자랑거리입니다. 정부가 기회들을 제공하지만, 결국엔 학생들의 노력이 필요합니다.
우리에게는 학습에 도움이 되는 환경에서 아이들이 배우는 것이 중요하기 때문에, 이러한 기회들을 제공하는 것입니다. 2008년 도 이후, 우리는 학교 시설을 위해 대략 $5 billion을 투자했습니다- 이것은 이전의 그 어떠한 정부가 헌신한 것보다 많은 금액입니다. 우리는 지속적으로 이 투자가 전국적으로 새로운 학교들과, 주요 재개발 및 새로운 교실 신설에 사용되는 것을 보고 있습니다.
우리는 또한 유아 교육, 교사 트레이닝 및 개발, 그리고 디지털 시설에 투자할 것입니다. 우리가 이러한 투자를 하는 것은, 학생들이 학교에 도착했을 때 배울 수 있는 환경이 조성되는 것 및 양질의 교육이 가져다 주는 혜택들과, 우리의 교실들이 세계와 연결되는 것의 가치를 알기 때문입니다.
우리는 우리 아이들이 어떠한 학교를 가든지, 세계의 다른 아이들과 비교했을 때 동등한 기회들을 제공받을 수 있길 바랍니다. 좋은 교육은 아이들로 하여금 집에서나 세계에서나 성공할 수 있게 지원하며, 동시에 좀 더 생산적이고 경쟁력이 있는 경제를 위해 기여하는 것입니다.
국민당 정부는 모든 가정에서의 모든 아이들이 성공하기 위한 기회를 가질 수 있길 바랍니다.
이것은 국민들과 국가의 미래를 위한 중요한 투자입니다.
A good education is a passport for the future – it gives our young people opportunities to go almost anywhere and do almost anything. Without it, their options are more limited. That is why education is a priority for this Government.
The final NCEA results, released last week, show our ongoing investment in education is working, and students are taking advantage of the opportunities provided to them. The results are the best we’ve seen since we came into office.
Here are the numbers: 75.5 per cent of Year 11 students achieved NCEA Level 1, up from just over 62 per cent in 2008; 78.4 per cent of Year 12 students achieved NCEA Level 2, up from 65.5 per cent nine years ago; and 64.5 per cent of Year 13 students achieved NCEA Level 3, up from 53.4 per cent in 2008.
These results translate into thousands more of our kids leaving school every year with the skills and knowledge they need to undertake further education and training and succeed in life.
The results are a credit to teachers, parents, school boards and the students themselves. We provide the opportunities, but it’s the students who do the hard work. Part and parcel of providing the opportunities is ensuring our kids get the chance to learn in environments that are conducive to learning.
Since 2008, we have committed around $5 billion to school infrastructure - more than any previous government. We are continuing to see the rollout of this investment in new schools, major redevelopments and new classrooms right across the country.
We are also investing in early childhood education, teacher training and development and digital infrastructure.
We are making these investments because we recognise the value of helping our kids arrive at school ready to learn as well as the benefits of quality teaching and connecting our classrooms to the world.
Wherever our kids go to school, we want them to have access to the same opportunities as kids in the rest of the world. A good education helps our children be successful at home and around the world, while contributing towards a more productive and competitive economy.
This Government wants every child, from every family, to have the opportunity to succeed.It’s a critica investment in our people and in the future of our country.
