총선을 3개월 앞두고 있는 가운데, 저는 최근에 웰렁턴에서 열린 국민당 연례 컨퍼런스에서 연설할 수 있어서 영광이었습니다.
저는 그 기회를 삼아 2020년대의 뉴질랜드에 대한 국민당의 비전 개요 뿐만 아니라, 차기 정부 임기의 주요 우선순위에 대해서 얘기했으며- 여기엔 추가적인 임금 인상 및 감세가 포함되어 있습니다.
저는 저희의 비전을 여기서도 나누고 싶습니다.
국민당이 이끄는 뉴질랜드는 무역 및 투자에 개방되어 있으며, 뉴질랜드 국민들이 모국에 머무는 것을 기쁘게 생각합니다. 이것은 성장을 포용합니다. 왜냐면 더 많은 일자리 창출, 더 높은 임금, 그리고 뉴질랜드 국민들을 위한 더 큰 기회들을 제공하기 때문입니다.
저희는 혁신과 열심이 인정되고 보상받는 뉴질랜드를 위해 일하며, 취약계층을 돌보고 그들이 삶에 변화를 가져올 수 있도록 지원하는 뉴질랜드를 위해 일합니다.
이 정부는 뉴질랜드의 미래를 낙관적이게 바라보며, 모든 뉴질랜드 국민들이 성공할 수 있도록 지원합니다. 저희는 성장과 개방의 길을 택하며, 뉴질랜드 국민들의 포부를 가지고 통치합니다.
국민당의 굳건한 경제적 계획이 뒷받침하며 뉴질랜드 국민들이 헌신한 지난 수년간의 노력은, 뉴질랜드로 하여금 선진국들 가운데 가장 빠르게 성장하는 경제 중 하나가 되게 하였습니다.
흑자재정과 감소된 부채, 그리고 수출이 성장하고 있는 가운데 저희는 월별로 만 개의 새로운 일자리를 창출하고 있습니다. 저희는 매우 중요한 공공 시설 프로그램을 가지고 있으며, 감소된 범죄율 및 실업율과 수천명의 뉴질랜드 가정들이 뉴질랜드에 머무는 것을 선택하고 있고, 제가 특별히 자랑스럽게 생각하는 부분은 복지에 의존하는 가구에 속한 어린이들이 6만 명 감소된 것입니다.
저희는 성과를 이룬 것들에 대해 자랑스럽게 생각하지만, 여전히 부족합니다.
저희가 이룬 성과는 비지니스를 시작하는 사람들과, 삶의 변화를 시작한 사람들에게 충분하지 않습니다. 또한 더 많은 주택들이 건축되길 기다리는 첫 주택 구매자들과, 성장의 혜택을 아직 보지 못한 사람들에게 충분하지 않습니다.
우리는 국가로서 잘 운영되고 있지만, 더 많은걸 이루기 위해서는 현재 주어진 드문 기회를 붙잡아야 됩니다.
저희는 올해 지속적으로 뉴질랜드 국민들의 삶에 변화를 가져다 줄 수 있는 정부 계획의 중요한 단계들을 이미 발표했습니다.
다음 달에는 추가적인 1125명의 경찰 직원의 첫번 째 그룹이Porirua 경찰학교에 배치될 것입니다.
내년 4월 달부터는 가족 소득 패캐지로 인해 130만 뉴질랜드 가정들의 소득이 주당 평균 $26 인상될 것입니다.
향후 10년 간 오클랜드에 지어질 3만 4천 채의 주택 중 대략 3천 채 가량의 주택들이 내년 6월 달까지 제공될 것이며- 이것은 이미 1년 안에 지어진 1만 채의 주택들에 더해질 것입니다.
이러한 것들은 성장하는 경제와 증가하는 흑자가 제공하는 긍정적인 선택들입니다. 그리고 저희는 이제 시작했을 뿐입니다.
국민당은 뉴질랜드의 번영을 추진하는 당입니다. 저희는 2020년대의 자랑스럽고, 당당한 뉴질랜드를 위해 기반시설, 환경, 소득 그리고 공공 서비스를 제공할 것입니다.
I recently had the privilege of speaking at the National Party annual conference in Wellington, just three months out from the election.
I took the opportunity to outline National’s vision for New Zealand in the 2020s, as well as our key priorities for the next Parliamentary term – including further raising incomes and reducing taxes.
I wanted to share our vision with you here.
National’s New Zealand is open to trade, open to investment and happy to have Kiwis stay home. It embraces growth because this is what delivers more jobs, higher wages and greater opportunities for all New Zealanders.
We work for a New Zealand where innovation and hard work is recognised and rewarded, a New Zealand that looks after the most vulnerable, and helps them change their lives.
This is a Government that is optimistic about New Zealand’s future, and that backs all New Zealanders to succeed. We take the path of growth and openness, and we govern with the ambition New Zealanders have earned.
The hard work New Zealanders have put in over many years, backed by National’s strong economic plan, has created one of the fastest growing economies in the developed world.
The books are in surplus, debt is falling, exports are growing, and we’re creating 10,000 new jobs per month. We have a very significant infrastructure programme, less crime, less unemployment, tens of thousands of kiwi families choosing staying home and, one statistic I’m particularly proud of, 60,000 fewer children in benefit-dependent households.
Taking New Zealand into the 2020s
We are proud of what we’ve achieved, but it’s not enough.
It’s not enough for people whose businesses are just taking off, or for those whose lives are just turning around. It’s not enough for first home buyers waiting for more houses to be built, or for people who haven’t yet seen the benefits of growth.
We are doing so well as a country, but we must grasp this rare opportunity to do so much more.
This year we’ve already announced significant steps in our plan to ensure that we continue to make a difference in all New Zealanders’ lives.
Next month we’ll see the first group of the extra 1125 police staff arrive at the Porirua Police College.
From April next year, the Family Incomes Package will boost the incomes of 1.3 million New Zealand families by an average of $26 a week.
By June next year, we’ll have delivered nearly 3000 of the 34,000 houses we will build in Auckland over the next 10 years – adding to the 10,000 a year already being built.
These are the positive choices that a growing economy and growing surpluses give us. And we’re just getting started.
National is the party that will drive New Zealand’s prosperity. We will deliver the infrastructure, the environment, the incomes and the public services to lead a proud and confident New Zealand into the 2020s.
