NZVP is a complete veterinary diagnostic laboratory offering service from two sites, one in Hamilton and one at Massey University in Palmerston North.
This is your opportunity to join a dynamic and fun team working in the Animal Health Industry. Our Laboratories, based in Palmerston North and Hamilton, provide veterinary diagnostic services to veterinarians and research groups throughout New Zealand. The company has been in operation for 7 years and is committed to developing and rewarding people with drive, innovation and strong customer service skills.
This full time position is available at our Hamilton site.Initially it has to be for 12 months to cover a maternity leave. We hope it can lead to a permanent position.
The position is available from Monday November 7 Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm.
Training will be provided prior to the successful candidate taking their position on a 1 in 3 weekend roster. Weekend hours are typically 8.00am -11.30am and 1 hour on Sundays.
Reporting to the Microbiology and Parasitology Team Leader, the successful candidate will become a crucial member of a small technical group and the wider laboratory team. This role involves a rewarding variety of microscopy, bench work and culture techniques. While training will be provided, the successful applicants will need to bring with them a positive attitude and a willingness to operate as part of a team. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential qualities.

- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite predominantly)
- Good attention to detail that places a high value on accuracy
- Initiative and problem solving skills
- Understanding of, or experience with Quality Assurance processes (NZS ISO/IEC 17025 and GLP) would be beneficial
- Laboratory experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification
