Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Knowledge

Essential

 Extensive experience installing and maintaining either Linux and / or Windows Servers - in particular Linux: Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS distributions and/or Windows: (MS technologies: AD, IIS, SQL and TS)

 Scripting experience: bash, Perl, Php, Python, Powershell

 PostFix, Apache, MySQL, BIND, Proxy experience.

 NFS and NAS devices.

 IPTables and general firewalling and load balancing experience.

Extensive experience in systems engineering and architecture exposure to:

o Virtualisation preferably VMware

o DNS

o Enterprise Storage - SAN / NAS storage infrastructure

o HP/SUN/Supermicro, Blade and rack servers

o Thorough knowledge of the OSI model (TCIP)

 Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

 Excellent documentation skills

 Ability to ‘think ahead’ and ‘future proof’

 A strong technical trouble shooter with great problem solving skills.

 Strong analytical Skills

 A current NZ drivers Licence

o MCSE/MCITP

o VCP

o Cisco Certification - CCNA /CCIE

 Systems Engineering experience in

o Cisco

o Large scale web Hosting

o Enterprise mail solutions

o High availability clustering

o Experience in RDBMS

o Firewalling

 Corporate/enterprise background and an understanding of ISP’s advantageous

 Solaris / Tomcat / Solr / memcached experience advantageous

 Ability to challenge convention and make recommendations for improvement

 Project Management experience advantageous
