지난 달 발표되었던 예산안은 공공 서비스 개선, 성장하는 국가에 필요한 사회 기반 시설에 투자, 부채 감소, 그리고 가족 소득 인상을 통한 성장의 혜택을 공유하는 것에 초점이 맞춰졌습니다.
이번 예산안은 국민들을 위해 무엇을 해야 되는지 아는 정부가, 국민들을 위해 제공하는 예산안입니다.
이러한 정부의 마음이 여러 지역 사회들과 비지니스 그룹들로 부터 받은 긍정적인 피드백들로 헤아려져서 기쁩니다.
저희의 9번 째 예산안은 향후 5년 간 평균 3.1%의 굳건한 경제적 성장이 이루어질 것을 예측하는 것과 동시에, 정부 재정의 지속적인 개선을 보여줍니다.
이것은 정부에게 모든 뉴질랜드 국민들의 생활 수준을 개선할 수 있는 기회 제공과, 더 많은 일자리 창출 및 더 높은 임금으로 이어집니다. 저희는 뉴질랜드를 영구적으로 더 번영하는 길로 인도할 수 있도록 성장하는 경제가 제공하는 기회를 붙잡도록 노력할 것입니다.
이번 예산안은 우리가 계획하고 있는 다음 단계들을 나열하고 있으며, 거기엔 성장하는 지속 가능한 경제를 세워나가기 위한 $1 billion의 투자가 포함되어 있습니다. 뚜렷한 경제적 계획에 초점을 맞추지 않는 이상, 이번 예산안을 통해 결정된 계획들이 미래에 가능하지 않을 것이라는 것을 저희는 압니다.
국민들도 저희가 진행하고 있는 몇가지 계획들에 관심이 있지 않을까 싶습니다.
첫번 째로, 저희는 두번 째 단계의 혁신적인 뉴질랜드 프로그램을 위해 $373 million을 투자할 것입니다. 이것은 뉴질랜드 회사들이 더 혁신적이고, 뉴질랜드 수출품의 가치를 올릴 수 있도록 돕는 여러 시책들입니다.
여기엔 기술 회사들이 성공할 수 있도록 돕는 정부의 과학기술에 투자- 곧 Endeavour 기금, 그리고 Callaghan Innovation의 연구 개발 지원금을 위한 투자가 포함되어 있습니다. 또한 젊은 뉴질랜드 국민들이 나라를 이끌어 나가는 것에 필요한 기술을 가질 수 있도록 제3차 교육 부문에 투자가 포함되어 있습니다.

여기에 더불어, 이번 예산안은 성장하는 경제 속 영화와 관광산업이 가지고 있는 역할을 인정했습니다. 두 산업 모두 가지고 있는 기회들을 활용할 수 있도록, 두 산업에 투자를 증가했습니다.
뉴질랜드는 자신감 있는 국가이며, 우리의 경제는 굳건하게 성장하고 있습니다- 이것을 유지한다면 전망 또한 긍정적입니다.
비지니스, 무역, 그리고 혁신을 위한 정부의 지속적인 투자는 뉴질랜드를 지금과 같이 생산적이고 번영하는 길로 이끌 것입니다. 이것은 뉴질랜드 가정들의 중요한 사안들을 지원하는 공공 서비스 제공과, 국민들을 위한 일자리 창출 및 더 높은 임금을 제공할 수 있도록 지원합니다.
Keeping New Zealand’s Economy Growing
Last month’s Budget focused on improving public services, investing in the infrastructure needed for a growing country, reducing debt and sharing the benefits of growth through lifting family incomes
It’s a Budget that delivers for New Zealanders from a Government that cares about people and knows how to get things done.
I was pleased to see those sentiments recognised in the positive feedback we have received from a wide range of community and business groups.
Our ninth Budget shows continuing improvement in the Government’s books as well as solid economic growth expected to average 3.1 per cent over the next five years.
That translates to more jobs and higher i
ncomes and gives us an opportunity to raise living standards for all New Zealanders. We’re determined to seize the opportunity that a growing economy presents to permanently shift the country onto a more prosperous path.
The Budget sets out the next steps in our plan to do that and includes a $1 billion investment to keep building a sustainable and growing economy. We know that without staying focused on our clear economic plan, the choices we’ve been able to make in this Budget simply won’t be possible in the future.
I thought you might be interested in just a few of the ways we are doing this.
First, we are allocating $373 million in the second round of our Innovative New Zealand programme. This is a series of initiatives that help New Zealand companies be more innovative, and so lift the value of our exports.
It includes funding for the Government’s pre-eminent applied science fund – the Endeavour Fund, and for Callaghan Innovation’s Research and Development grants to help our tech companies succeed. It also includes investment in our tertiary education sector to ensure young New Zealanders get the skills they need to help keep our country moving.
The Budget was also strongly focused on trade, as set aside significant funding to help us forge new and better trade opportunities around the world. This includes opening new embassies in Dublin and Colombo.
And it recognised the role that both film and tourism play in growing our economy. Both industries received funding boosts to ensure we can build on the opportunities they present.
New Zealand is a confident country, our economy is growing solidly – and if we stay on track, the outlook is positive.
Our continued investment in business, in trade, and in innovation will help keep New Zealand on the productive and prosperous path it is on today. It will help us deliver more jobs and higher wages for Kiwis, while also ensuring New Zealand families are supported by the public services that matter to them.
